We went to Saint Louis for Mother's Day weekend. It was a quick in and out trip for a wedding, but while we were there I decided that I wanted to visit the botanical gardens for my Mother's Day gift. I finally ordered my new lens and I wanted to try it out.
My lens is a dedicated 105mm, f 2.8, macro 1:1 lens... I have been wishing for this lens for a while now. The bokeh on this baby is dreamy. And, as luck would have, it the irises where in full bloom at the botanical gardens.
It was rainy all weekend, and I did not capture the photos of downtown St. Louis that I envisioned, so I was worried the botanical gardens would be a lost cause. But, the skies parted and I had three full hours of full immersion in the beauty of macro photography.
We returned home on Monday and all week I was a day behind. It is funny to me how one simple twist of my schedule can offset things for an entire week. So, needless to say, I did not make it around to everyone's sites to gush over your photos. I'll be by later today for that.... which, for me, that is not a bad thing, it means I will be able to sit with you a bit longer :-D.
