Digital Art; Urban Art Quotes
I've not been good at blogging since I let my Life Thru the Lens community go. You guys really kept me on track here. I have been producing though, art that is. I have diligently been working at honing my digital artistry skills, and I must say I am finally pretty happy about what I am creating.
Both of the following pieces were created with several thoughts in mind...
- I wanted them to have a typography element that was incorporated into the piece, not just laid on it.
- I wanted them to be editorial in nature... "What You See" is a homage to a movie poster, and "Dream Colors" is homage to an old record cover.
- I wanted them both to have a grunge look.
- And, finally, I wanted color to play a huge role in the composite.
Some of my favorite Photoshop tools....
Liquify... I use this in some way in almost all of my pieces. In "What you See" I used it to reshape the models hair and beard. In "Dream Colors" I used it to slightly enlarge her right eye and cheek. Be careful with the liquify tool, it is really easy to over use it.
Levels... every piece of mine has this adjustment in the post production phase. I use it as a way to bring the entire piece into cohesiveness.
Textures and color overlays... almost always play a role in my pieces, either to give it grunge, or to change the color cast entirely. Most of my post production also includes a texture, or two, or three to bring cohesiveness to the piece.
And now a little shameless plug... you can purchase some of my pieces over at my Premier Gallery on ArtBoja. I hope to be offering prints here at my site soon.
